Dr. Lidia Abrams - certified New Jersey psychologist

Dr. Lidia Abrams, PhD, FPPR is a board certified New Jersey  psychologist (license #2968) and has practiced psychotherapy for 16 years.

Her orientation is Rational Emotive / Cognitive Behavioral  She is a fellow and certified supervisor of the Albert Ellis Institute and co-authored a book with Dr. Albert Ellis.

Including her Ph.D. she has earned three advanced degrees in psychology. She studied at Ramapo College of New Jersey, New York University, and Temple University.

She is a fellow and diplomate of the Prescribing Psychologist's Register and a fellow of the Albert Ellis Institute.

Dr. Abrams is the Executive Director of the Resolve Community Counseling Center of Scotch Plains.

After earning her PhD she completed a two year post doctoral program at the Albert Ellis Institute where she studied clinical applications of cognitive behavior therapy.

Her experience includes women and gender issues, chronic illness, and problems related to weight and eating.

Dr. Abrams is the author or co-author of numerous publications including the book "The Art and Science of Rational Eating." Her latest book (in preparation) is a textbook on Personality it is being co-authored with Albert Ellis and Dr. Mike Abrams.

Her extensive skills in cognitive behavioral therapy are complemented by her long experience in psychological testing and evaluation; additionally, she has a strong background in providing independent medical evaluations and expert witness testimony.  She has assessed and diagnosed the problems of people ranging from 6 to 75.

She has consulted to and provided services for the New Jersey Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Division of Family Services.  Dr. Abrams has also consulted to numerous attorneys and insurance companies.

She has taught psychology at New Jersey City University and has conducted workshops at the Albert Ellis Institute in New York.

Dr. Abrams is fluent in Hungarian, Romanian, Moldovan and, of course, English.
